Cassadee Pope has officially signed with Republic Nashville, her
major label prize for winning season 3 of NBC's hit "The Voice."
"I am so excited to be joining the very talented Republic
Nashville family," she says in the announcement. "I am so passionate
about my music and I couldn't be more excited to have this amazing team to back
me as I embark on this next chapter in my career."
Details on Pope's upcoming debut solo album were not revealed,
though the singer told Billboard in December that she has recruited her
"Voice" coach, Blake Shelton, to be involved. She also hinted at what
her new music will sound like.
"If you were to take Taylor Swift, make it edgier with a
just a little hint of country and make the lyrics a little more mature, that
would be the direction I'd like to take," Pope said.
Thanks to "The Voice," the singer-songwriter has
already scored two top 10 hits on Billboard's Country Songs chart, with
"Over You" (No. 3) and "Stupid Boy" (No. 4). She's charted
four songs on the Billboard Hot 100: "Over You" (No. 25), "Are
You Happy Now?" (No. 95), "Stupid Boy" (No. 40) and
"Cry" (No. 60).
Her combined digital sales for all of her released
"Voice" songs total 919,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan. The
biggest seller is "Over You," with 309,000. Pope has also sold 33,000
downloads of the four songs on her self-titled pre-"Voice" EP.
Her EP has sold 8,000 copies while her "The Voice: The
Complete Season 3 Collection" compilation has shifted 22,000. Both titles
charted on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, reaching Nos. 25 and 1,
respectively.
