Despite recent reports to the contrary, Britney Spears is still
in “deep negotiations” to headline a Las Vegas residency in the near future,
says her manager, Larry Rudolph.
“I’d be shocked if it didn’t happen,” Rudolph told Extra on
Tuesday. “[We're] hoping to have a deal done very soon.”
Rudolph also revealed that negotiations had been narrowed down to
two potential casinos, one of which is part of the Caesars Entertainment group.
Caesars’ Palace released an official statement earlier this month
saying that Spears was not in talks to come to the Colosseum – which already
hosts Celine Dion, Elton John and Shania Twain through 2014, while Rod Stewart
has a two-year contract that ends in August -- as the venue is already “packed
every weekend for months.” The group does, however, own several additional
properties in Sin City, including Bally’s, Flamingo, Harrah’s, Paris, Planet
Hollywood and Rio.
Earlier this year, Spears officially announced that she would not
be returning for season three of Fox’s The X Factor. Rumors quickly began to
circulate that Spears was negotiating a Las Vegas residency. According to
Rudolph, Spears’ deal will be finalized once her team decides which locale to
commit to.
A rep for Spears did not immediately return The Hollywood
Reporter's request for comment.
