BILLBOARD.COM: Fall Out Boy to 'Save Rock and Roll' in May

Fall Out Boy is a band on a mission… to "Save Rock and Roll," the title of the pop-punk group's first album in over four years, it was announced Monday morning in Chicago.

"Save Rock and Roll" will be released May 7, but the album's first single, "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark," hits iTunes today. Watch the video for the 2 Chainz version of Fall Out Boy's new track below.

The reformation of the platinum-selling combo behind hits like "Sugar We're Going Down" and "Thanks for the Memories" comes after years of breakup rumors.

"This isn't a reunion because we never broke up," they said in a statement. "We needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us. The future of Fall Out Boy starts now. Save Rock And Roll…"

The group's last album, "Folie à Deux," debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 in late 2008 and has sold 449,000 copies to date, according Nielsen SoundScan. Overall the band has sold 5.7 million albums since its first full-length studio release, 2003's "Take This to Your Grave." It's notched three top 10 albums on the Billboard 200, including the No. 1 "Infinity on High" in 2007. 2005's "From Under the Cork Tree" (which reached No. 9) is its best-seller with 2.7 million copies sold, followed by "Infinity" (1.4 million).

Fall Out Boy has scored three Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles, rising highest with 2007's "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race," which debuted and peaked at No. 2.

In addition to the album news, the band -- Pete Wentz, Patrick Stump, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley -- announced a tour kicking off May 14 in Milwaukee. To warm up, they'll play three club dates starting tonight in Chicago, Tuesday in New York CIty and Thursday in Los Angeles.
