MUSIC-NEWS.COM: Britney Spears' Father Makes 1 Million Dollars From Shows

Britney Spears' father will earn more than $1 million from her latest tour, it has been reported.
Jamie Spears is acting as manager of his superstar daughter's Femme Fatale world tour. Britney has been travelling to a host of countries to showcase her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale.
Even though Jamie reportedly isn't being paid for his role as tour manager, Britney's overall manager Larry Rudolph is keen to reward him.
According to TMZ, Larry wants to give Jamie a cut of his profits from the tour as he feels Jamie has expertly managed the stage shows.
'Legal docs in Britney's conservatorship case show Britney's overall manager, Larry Rudolph, wants to give up 2% of his cut to Jamie, because daddy Spears has done such a great job - Larry's cut is 10% of the gross,' reports the website. '[He will] get more than a million bucks - possibly a lot more.'
The legal documents reportedly show Jamie secured a lucrative tour deal with concert promoter Live Nation.
He is also believed to have organised Britney's personal schedule, handled her finances, supervised her arrival at venues, managed her security and made hundreds of business phone calls on her behalf.
Although Larry is voluntarily giving Jamie a percentage of his profits, the transaction will have to be approved in court.
Jamie has been co-conservator of Britney's personal and professional affairs since 2008. Britney was put under a conservatorship after her meltdown, which saw her attack a car with an umbrella, shave her head and be placed in a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold after refusing to hand over her two sons.

BILLBOARD.COM: Rihanna Roars to Hot 100 as LMFAO Get 'Sexy' in Top 10

While Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger," featuring Christina Aguilera, spends a fourth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Rihanna and LMFAO make strong cases for future chart domination with their latest singles.

Rihanna charges onto the Hot 100 at No. 16 with "We Found Love" (featuring Scottish DJ Calvin Harris), the first single from her forthcoming sixth studio album. Island Def Jam has not yet confirmed the title of the set, due Nov. 21.

The club-thumping "Found" enters Digital Songs at No. 7 with first-week download sales of 117,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and Radio Songs at No. 75 with 14 million out-of-the-box impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. With the song having been released digitally and to radio Thursday (Sept. 22), next week's charts will reflect the song's first full week of sales and airplay activity.

"Found" ties for the second-highest debut of Rihanna's 31 career Hot 100 entries. She started at a loftier rank only as a guest on Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," which soared in at No. 2 the week of July 10, 2010, before spending seven weeks at the summit. Rihanna's "Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour)," with Jay-Z and Bono, also opened at No. 16 (Feb. 6, 2010)
LMFAO concurrently rockets 25-10 as the Hot 100's Digital Gainer with "Sexy and I Know It." The song bounds 15-6 on Digital Songs with 139,000 downloads sold (up 97%). Early airplay is likewise encouraging, as "Sexy" blasts 67-45 in its second week on Radio Songs (27 million, up 55%). The pair's previous single, "Party Rock Anthem," featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock, led the Hot 100 for six weeks, subsequently earning the honor of Billboard's top song of the summer.

At just four chart weeks, "Sexy" surges to the Hot 100's top 10 in less than half the time (nine weeks) it took "Anthem" to reach the top tier.

Rihanna and LMFAO share a degree of separation: "Found" featured artist Harris also guests on "Reminds Me of You" on LMFAO's "Sorry for Party Rocking" album.

As Rihanna sets up her next album, "Cheers (Drink to That)," from her most recent release "Loud," reaches a new Hot 100 peak, rising 8-7. The song dips, however, in digital sales (114,000, down 5%) and airplay (60 million, down 6%).

"Jagger," meanwhile, maintains its command over the Hot 100. The track strengthens its stronghold by posting gains atop Radio Songs (131 million, up 6%) and Digital Songs (233,000, up 5%), marking the song's best weekly audience and sales sums to-date.

Former Hot 100 No. 1 "Someone Like You" by Adele places at No. 2 for a third week with Airplay Gainer honors for a third time in four weeks. The piano ballad (also being played in remixed form) rockets 9-2 on Radio Songs, improving by 26% to 106 million. The cut's seven-spot jump on Radio Songs is the greatest to the top two in the chart's 21-year history; only Kanye West's "Stronger" (7-1, Oct. 6, 2007) had risen as many as six positions to the top two.

On Digital Songs, "Someone" tallies a third frame at No. 2 (201,000, up 1%) after ruling the list three weeks ago.

Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" holds at No. 3 on the Hot 100 for a fifth week. The song pushes 8-6 on Radio Songs (96 million, up 6%) and remains at No. 3 on Digital Songs (177,000, down 5%).

LMFAO's "Anthem" (4-4); Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts," featuring Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine (5-5); and, Bad Meets Evil's "Lighters," featuring Bruno Mars (6-6), round out the Hot 100's static top six.

Between Rihanna's "Cheers" at No. 7 and LMFAO's "Sexy" at No. 10 on the Hot 100 are Lady Gaga's "You and I" (10-8) and Cobra Starship's "You Make Me Feel...," featuring Sabi (7-9).

In addition to Rihanna's bow with "Found," eight other songs enter the Hot 100, three by the "Glee" cast and two by Demi Lovato.

With school back in session, i.e., Fox's "Glee" returning for a third season last Tuesday (Sept. 20), three titles from the season premiere debut: "It's Not Unusual" (No. 65), originally Tom Jones' first Hot 100 hit (No. 10) in 1965; "Hairspray" cut "You Can't Stop the Beat" (No. 67); and, "We Got the Beat" (No. 83), a No. 2 smash for the Go-Go's in 1982. "Unusual" leads the way with sales of 40,000; by comparison, the top-selling track from last year's second-season opener, the troupe's cover of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind," began at No. 21 on the Hot 100 with sales of 106,000.

Lovato debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 69 with "Fix a Heart" (37,000 downloads) and No. 98 with "Unbroken" (24,000). The latter song is the title cut from the singer's third album, which, as previously reported, begins on the Billboard 200 at No. 4. The set's first proper single, "Skyscraper," elevates 61-55 on the Hot 100 after debuting and peaking at No. 10 in July.

All charts, including the Hot 100, Digital Songs and Radio Songs, will be refreshed tomorrow (Sept. 22) on Billboard.com.

BILLBOARD.COM: Tony Bennett, 85, Achieves First No. 1 Album On Billboard 200

Legendary pop singer Tony Bennett achieves his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with "Duets II," making the 85-year old the oldest living act to reach No. 1. His all-star collaborations album bows in the top slot with 179,000 sold in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The 14-time Grammy Award winner's previous high on the chart came in 2006, when his first "Duets" set debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 202,000. Bennett has been charting on Billboard's charts since 1951 and notched his first hit on the Billboard 200 album tally six years later. Until today, the oldest living artist to top the Billboard 200 was Bob Dylan, whose "Together Through Life" debuted at No. 1 in 2009 when he was 67-years old.

Bennett's "Duets II" features 17 pairings with such stars as
Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and the late Amy Winehouse. Last week, Bennett made news as the oldest living artist to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, when his duet with Winehouse, "Body and Soul," debuted at No. 87.

Last week's No. 1 album, Lady Antebellum's "Own the Night," falls to No. 2 with 125,000 (down 64%) while Adele's "21" also drops a spot to No. 3 with 117,000 (down 2%). Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" descends 3-5 in its fourth week with 84,000 (down 28%).

The second-highest debut this week belongs to
Demi Lovato's third album, "Unbroken," which debuts at No. 4 with 96,000 sold. Her last release, 2009's "Here We Go Again," opened at No. 1 with 108,000. Her first set, 2008's "Don't Forget," debuted and peaked at No. 2 with 89,000.

Bennett and Lovato lead a total of six new arrivals in the top 10 this week. They are joined by rock act
NeedToBreathe, Mindless Behavior, Gavin DeGraw and Pearl Jam.

NeedToBreathe's "The Reckoning" starts at No. 6 with 49,000 -- the band's first top 10, highest charting set and best sales week ever. Its last release, 2009's "The Outsiders," debuted and peaked at No. 20 with 21,000.

Some of "The Reckoning's" big first week can be attributed to two high-powered friends of the band:
Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. The singers -- two of the top 10 most-followed people on Twitter -- tweeted about "The Reckoning" during release week: Bieber on Sept. 20 and Swift on Sept. 24. (Bieber has 12.9 million followers and Swift has 8.2 million.) It makes sense that Swift would alert her followers about NeedToBreathe, as the band has been opening for the singer on her Speak Now tour since it launched on May 27.

R&B vocal group Mindless Behavior rides in at No. 7 with its debut album "#1 Girl," selling 36,000 copies in its first week. The teen quartet -- who rank at No. 16 on Billboard.com's 21 Under 21 list -- will hit the road with the Scream tour, featuring Diggy and New Boyz, beginning Sept. 30 in Augusta, Georgia.

Gavin DeGraw's "Sweeter" lands the singer/songwriter his second top 10 set as it starts at No. 8 with 34,000. His last release, 2009's "Free," debuted and peaked at No. 19 (26,000) and spent just three weeks on the chart. His first top 10 came with his 2008 self-titled set, which bowed at No. 7 off a 66,000 start.

The final new entry in the top 10 is Pearl Jam, with its soundtrack to its "Pearl Jam Twenty" film, bowing at No. 10 with 27,000. The companion piece to the Cameron Crowe-directed documentary includes demo recordings, live tracks and rare cuts. It's the band's tenth top 10 album. Pearl Jam is one slot behind the final holdover in the top 10: Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Watch the Throne," which holds at No. 9 with 31,000.

Moving over to the Digital Songs chart, Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" (featuring Christina Aguilera) holds at No. 1 with 233,000 downloads sold (up 5%). Nos. 2 and 3 on the tally are also stationary: Adele's "Someone Like You" at No. 2 with 201,000 (up 1%) and Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" at No. 3 with 177,000 (down 5%).

A pair of acts claim double top 10 honors this week, as both LMFAO and Rihanna occupy two slots each in the region.

LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" rises 5-4 (149,000; up 4%) while its new single, "Sexy and I Know It," flies 15-6 (139,000; up 97%) as its racy music video continues to make waves.

Rihanna's new single, "We Found Love" (featuring Calvin Harris), debuts at No. 7 with 117,000 after only four days of sales. The single was released on Sept. 22, while the chart tracking week ended on Sunday, Sept. 25. "Found" is the first single from Rihanna's sixth studio album, due later this year. Meanwhile, "Cheers (Drink to That)," the final single from her previous album, "Loud," slips 9-10 with 114,000 (down 5%).

Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts" (featuring Adam Levine) falls 4-5 (140,000; down 3%), David Guetta's "Without You" (featuring Usher) climbs 10-8 (116,000; up 12%) and Lady Gaga's "You And I" slips 8-9 (114,000; down 6%).

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Sept. 25) totaled 5.28 million units, down 5% compared to the sum last week (5.58 million) and up 5% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010 (5.03 million). Year to date album sales stand at 222.93 million, up 3% compared to the same total at this point last year (215.76 million). It is the 18th week in a row where year-to-date album volume is greater than the same time in the prior year.

Digital track sales this past week totaled 20.78 million downloads, down 1% compared to last week (21.01 million) and up 8% stacked next to the comparable week of 2010 (19.18 million). Year to date track sales are at 931.37 million, up 11% compared to the same total at this point last year (840.92 million).

Next week's Billboard 200 competes with the same week in 2010 when: Kenny Chesney's "Hemmingway's Whiskey" debuted at No. 1 with 183,000 and Lil Wayne's "I Am Not a Human Being" bowed at No. 2 off a digital-only sales start of 110,000. The previous week's leader, Zac Brown Band's "You Get What You Give," slipped to No. 3 with 70,000 (down 54%)

BILLBOARD.COM: Melissa Etheridge Lands Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Grammy- and Oscar-winning singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge, a breast cancer survivor, has received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.

Tuesday's ceremony in front of the Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood also marked the launch of Hard Rock's monthlong Pinktober campaign, a series of concerts and celebrity events held to raise money and breast cancer awareness.

The 50-year-old Etheridge is best known for the songs "Come to My Window" and "I'm the Only One." She received the 2,450th sidewalk star in Hollywood.

MUSIC-NEWS.COM: Guns 'N Roses Set For Hall Of Fame Honour

Guns 'N Roses and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are among the first-time nominees up for the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
They make up the list of 15 acts who released their debut album or single at least 25 years ago.
Other acts in the running for the honour are Eric B. & Rakim, The Cure, The Small Faces and The Spinners.
Previous nominees that have been shortlisted again this year include The Beastie Boys, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Donovan, Donna Summer and War.
"The 2012 Nominees embody the broad scope of what 'rock & roll' means,' said Joel Peresman, President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. 'From vocal groups to hip-hop, from singer-songwriters to hard rocking artists, this group represents the spirit of what we celebrate at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.'
Many bands, including Led Zeppelin and the Police, have put aside long-standing feuds to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It is hoped this will be true for Guns 'N Roses if they make it in.
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' 1981 hit, I Love Rock and Roll, is still regarded as a rock classic.
Jett herself is considered an icon for women who were trying to crack into the male-dominated world of rock and roll.
Jett's incredible rise into the music industry with her first band The Runaways was made into a film starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning.
Every year The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation chooses the artists it deems the most influential to enter the Hall of Fame.
Inductees include legendary performers such as Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Michael Jackson.
Last years' inductees included Alice Cooper and Tom Waits.
The successful new members will be inducted on April 14 next year.

BILLBOARD.COM: Adele Talks Fame, Love of "Full-Fat Coke" min British Vogue

The always-stunning Adele graces the cover of the October issue of British Vogue, showing off her unique and striking look to all. Photographed by the talented Sølve Sundsbø, the elegant singer is shown flashing her famous pillow-lipped pout while wearing a made-to-order Burberry lace dress on the cover.

The 23-year old musician has been one of the magazine's most popular cover girls to date, stirring up quite the buzz with her shear beauty and witty repartee in her interviews.

Inside the mag Adele opened up about her issues with fame and not wanting to be the face of a product or brand, saying,  "I don't want to see me plastered everywhere," before adding, "If they offered me £10million, I'd be like f*** off. Besides if I was going to be the face of anything it should be the face of full-fat [regular] coke."

BILLBOARD.COM: Far East Movement Peg Early 2012 for Second Album

After a whirlwind of success on the Billboard Hot 100 over the past year, Los Angeles hip-hop group Far*East Movement is hoping to release its bass-heavy sophomore album on Interscope/Cherrytree early next year, the act's Kev Nish tells Billboard.com.

"We want to deliver it in the next two months, at least, to the label," Nish says, noting that he and other Far*East Movement members Prohgress, J-Splif and DJ Virman are spending the next few weeks in Los Angeles working on new material. "After they give it a listen we'll see where they want to take it -- hopefully early 2012."

Last October, the Asian-American group released its debut album, "Free Wired," which has sold 162,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The set's unforgettable smash hit "Like A G6" spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 last fall and the track has sold 3.7 million downloads. The second single, "Rocketeer" (featuring Ryan Tedder), peaked at No. 7 on the Hot 100 in February and has sold 1.5 million downloads.

The follow-up to "Free Wired" will feature a "heavy trunk bass sound for the dance floor," Nish says. "To accentuate the bass," he adds, "we bought an old school refurbished 1989 Cadillac limo. I used to install car stereos, so I'm going to hook up the system myself and we're going to take all of our songs in this car and drive around in L.A. and vibe out."

"We'll have a few songs that show the hip-hop roots and the 'Rocketeer' style, and heavy synth dance tracks as well," Nish continues. "But the majority of the album is going to be the L.A. dirty bass sound."

Far*East Movement is currently working with producers David Guetta, Bangladesh, the Stereotypes, Cherry Cherry Boom Boom and "a bunch of new, unknown producers," Nish notes. The act was working on song sketches from their downtown L.A. apartments at press time.

"We keep it old school, do all the rough tracks out of our apartments," Nish says. "Then we take it to a studio in West L.A. -- the Stereotypes' studio -- and do the final cuts."

Nish declined to reveal which artists Far*East Movement plans to collaborate with on the new album, but says they're currently in talks with Lil Wayne. The group recently forged a relationship with the rapper while performing on his North American summer tour from July through September. "He's talked about getting on a song for sure," Nish says.

Meanwhile, on Saturday (Oct. 1), Far*East Movement and film production crew Wong Fu Productions will stage their charity-focused International Secret Agents concert at Long Beach's Harry Bridges Memorial Park on the Queen Mary. In addition to Far*East Movement, the event will feature B.o.B, Sean Kingston, singer Cathy Nguyen, comedian Kevin Wu, and YouTube star Ryan Higa.

A portion of ticket sales proceeds will be donated to youth educational nonprofit 4C the Power. Tickets are available at ISAtv.com or at this link.

Since 2008, Far*East Movement and Wong Fu Productions have staged ISA concerts in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. Nish says the act has worked with 4C the Power through the years and has even participated in workshops.

"We'd go and teach workshops and try to inspire kids, especially with budgets being cut in schools," he says. "The first that goes out is music and anything creative."

BILLBOARD.COM: Shakira Is Latin Grammy Person of the Year

Colombian singer/songwriter Shakira will be honored as the 2011 Latin Recording Academy person of the year, the Latin Grammy organization has announced. The tribute gala for the songstress will be held Nov. 9, one day before the 12th annual awards show  at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

Shakira, also nominated for three Grammy awards, including album of the year, was selected as the person of the year for her artistic achievements and philanthropic contributions.

"It is truly an honor to be in the company of some of the greatest artists and legends of Latin Music," Shakira said in a statement.

Shakira is scheduled to attend a dinner at Mandalay Bay where her music will be performed by fellow artists and friends as they celebrate the honoree.

As a child in Colombia, Shakira was already showing her vocal chops by meshing rock, Latin and Mediterranean influences in her music. By the early '90s she was already a recording artist, but in 1996 her "Pies Descalzos" album made the music industry take note as she produced hits such as "Estoy Aqui" and "Se Quiere … Se Mata."

Later she released the critically-acclaimed "Donde Estan Los Ladrones," and in 2000 "Shakira: MTV Unplugged" earned the artist her first Grammy award for best Latin pop album. At the first Latin Grammy awards in 2000, she also received two Latin Grammy awards.

Expanding her musical resume, Shakira released her first English-language album, "Laundry Service," in 2001. The set was a huge success and introduced her to a global audience.

In 2005, her album "Fijacíon Oral Vol. 1," featured the popular single "La Tortura" (featuring Spanish singer/songwriter Alejandro Sanz). The album and the single earned her four Latin Grammy awards.

"La Tortura" has the record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart, with a staggering 25 frames atop the 25-year old tally. It is one of nine No. 1s on the chart for Shakira.

The singer has also had five No. 1s on the Top Latin Albums chart, including her most recent "Sale El Sol," which spent 12 weeks at No. 1. Shakira's album sales to date are at 9.9 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

At 18 years old Shakira founded the Pies Descalzos Foundation, a charity created to provide underprivileged children support with their academic needs. Additionally, the singer is also a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. As an honorary chairperson for the Global Campaign for education, she has been an advocate for universal education.

Through benefit concerts, Shakira has also had impact in the name of supporting victims of natural disasters as she did with the 2007 Clinton Global Initiative. She received a commitment of $40 million from the Spanish government to provide support for those in need.

Shakira is the youngest artist to receive the person of the year honor and joins a roster of other singers including Placido Domingo, Carlos Santana, Gloria Estefan, Gilberto Gil, Julio Iglesias and Ricky Martin.

"We are honored to pay homage to this dynamic, socially conscious woman whose illustrious career has touched so many people around the world, both musically and personally," says Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy.

The Latin Grammys will air live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center on Nov. 10.
