BILLBOARD.COM: Lady Gaga Tops MTV Europe Music Awards Nominees

After taking home multiple MTV Video Music Awards last month -- in drag, no less -- Lady Gaga continues a banner year with six nominations for the MTV Europe Music Awards, to be held Nov. 6 at Belfast's Odyssey Arena. Behind the widespread acclaim for new album "Born This Way," the pop star leads all nominations and will compete in categories like Best Pop, Best Female, and Best Live.

Bruno Mars and Katy Perry placed second to Gaga with four nominations, respectively, while Adele, Justin Bieber and Thirty Seconds to Mars each scored three nominations. Perry's anthem "Firework" will challenge Gaga's "Born This Way," Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," Mars' "Grenade" and Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor" for the title of Best Song. 

Gaga, Bieber and Thirty Seconds to Mars will compete against Paramore and Selena Gomez in the new Biggest Fans category, which honors the rabidness of an artist's fan base. Also new to the EMAs is the World Wide Act category, which allows fans to vote for artists from different sects of Europe, with the winner competing against acts from Latin America, North America, Asia Pacific and Africa/India/Middle East.

The MTV EMAs have been held annually since 1994 in a variety of European cities, including Paris, Berlin, and Rome. Last year's awards, held in Madrid, were dominated by Gaga as well, as she took home three titles, including Best Song for "Bad Romance."
